Hip Muscle Weakness Contributes to Back Pain

Weakness of the hip stabilizer leads to knee internal rotation and excessive pelvis rotation during walking.  The longer you walk the more strain is placed on the ligaments and joints in the low back.

In fact, a research study showed it could predict when you would experience low back pain based on how quickly your gluteus medius fatigued.  Once the muscle fatigued people began experiencing pain within 5 minutes.

Hip Muscles

How long can you stand or walk before experiencing pain?

Guess what, if you strengthen the hip stabilizers you can walk further before experiencing pain.  The stronger you are the longer you can walk.

The hip muscle stabilizers are often tender to the touch.  Trigger points develop which radiate pain down the leg or across the back. Specific exercises and stretches will eliminate your pain and increase your ability to walk through the mall and exercise.
