WHAT IS SELECTIVE FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT ASSESSMENT?
The Selective functional movement assessment is a set of seven full-body movement tests evaluated and scored in patients experiencing pain related to the musculoskeletal system. It measures the status of movement pattern related pain and dysfunction using bodily regional interdependent movement to aggravate symptoms and expose the limitations and dysfunctions. The purpose of the SFMA is to assess the quality of the movements. This system is basically designed to find the root cause of painful and faulty movements. Patient symptoms usually include:
- Difficulty in movement of limbs
- Muscle weakness or tightness
- Soft tissue pain due to injury
